DIY Sweater Boxes

Today's project is one that I have been putting off for far too long.  Up until recently, every time I would grab a sweater from my closet, it would snag and I would become frustrated.  My initial sweater storage solution turned out to be a giant fail.<br><br><div class="separator" style="clear: both; they were the small 16" wide x 12" deep x 12" high size.  I began by putting together the box, taping the bottom and slicing the flaps from the top with a utility blade.<br><br><div class="separator" style="clear: both; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhDQwRtlzIhmmozTvAbedo64LJsyoSyahfWsOVKDkDXM3Y33W6H7_Dw-FGRKH9RRjnAGkcoX9rGwssl15Kl5ixkQKtRA8LpFnkSik2AdtIkuEAUDzEJlkC4YChytR9oUpSSUiEH7ujCDsD-/s1600/DIY_Sweater_Box_12.jpg"></a></div><br>Because I notched and sloped the sides, those cuts were a little trickier.  Above you can see how I angle cut the fabric to make it easier to lay in the corners.<br><br>I worked my way all around the box and tried to wrap it just as I would wrap a gift.  Once all was complete, the pattern was a little busy on the interior where everything met up, but I was extremely excited with the outcome of this little DIY.<br><br><div class="separator" style="clear: both; Acrylic Remote Caddy Stand

Hello and happy Monday friends!  Did you enjoy your weekend?  We started our built-ins this weekend so I will have some progress for you soon.  I appreciate you hanging in there in-between bigger updates.  With me not feeling well paired with working on some larger DIY's, posting has been a little more sparse.  Hopefully things get back to normal in the next week or two around here.<br /><br />As our living room comes together, I have been starting to think about some of the smaller touches.  The living room will still house our television and components, so of course that also means we will have a few remote controls on our hands.  I have tried boxes and baskets for remotes, but they always end up lost, so this time I thought I would keep things "clear" for everyone.<br /><br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; Quick Tip Tuesday: Multi-Purpose Band Board

Tomorrow is tax day and I have spent a lot of time this past few weeks doing bookkeeping and reconciling.  After a day or two of filtering through documents and receipts, I knew I needed a handy little helper next to my laptop while I worked. <br /><br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; Styled X3 {Hanging Air Plant}

This is one of those projects that has been sitting in my craft drawer for months now with previous intentions of making some lettered wire labels.  I figured it would be fun to do a test run with the hanging air plant.<br /><br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiv9TQ42x5WkHbt2Zo6Uj92YYWtBIC5QF2mqlkeY5v-e0iHaeeNuFNBhyphenhyphen4i8dKJ2C8-ir_mBcY5U1a3wOoYppGYiNxjVIrG963JWfrXYQMSzJ7j96RYNAeTEUBaWgHxSiCYKB2cmKAE5_Fj/s1600/Air_Plant_Styling_4.jpg" /></a></div><br />To get started I dabbed a small bit of glue on the wire and tied a knot with the thread.  I initially tried hot glue, but it was too thick and not the easiest to work with.  Then, I spotted my E6000 and dabbed a very small amount onto the wire using the pointy end of a paperclip.  Much better.<br /><br />To transition, I would dab another small bit of glue, and attach the new color.  I would continue wrapping the previous color over the new color.  Then, I swapped, and started wrapping the new color over the old color.  Shown above, you can see my switching over from the pink to the blue.<br /><br />I ended up making the wire longer than necessary, so it took about 30-45 minutes of wrapping while I chatted with the boys about their day. <br /><br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; Quick Tip Tuesday: Magical Stain Be-Gone
